About

Reading the card explains the card.

Two guys, their friends, and a game of Magic. The merch we made for ourselves that everyone kept asking to buy.

The people

RTC ETC is Mark and Joff. We started the stream in February 2026 — not to build a brand, but to stay connected with friends and drag the Magic community back to the table. The in-person table. The one with Taco Bell and bad takes and people you actually like.

Joff is the creative one. Mark is the technical one. Together we make it happen.

“The Magic is in the gathering.”

The stream

Four players. Joff and Mark are always at the table; the other two rotate between a regular group of friends and occasional guests. Two to three games per session. Three to four hours per stream. Mark produces while playing, exactly as chaotic as it sounds.

The format is Commander — multiplayer, casual, group-first. We are here for the game the same way you go to a bar to watch football: the game matters, but it is not the only thing happening.

The name

“Reading the card explains the card” is a well-known MTG saying — usually thrown at someone who just misplayed because they did not read what the card actually does. It is mild ribbing. It is also completely correct.

For us, the joke hits a little closer to home. We are borderline illiterate. We misread cards mid-game. We make the misplay. We say the phrase. It is not a bit — it is a biography.

“The bit is that there is no bit.”

The cards

We make custom proxies that we like and hopefully you like them as well.

Black core cardstock. They do not tap for mana. They are land cards the way a poster is a painting.

The merch

The designs are for MTG players. Whether you watch the stream or not, the shirts hold up. Counter Spell These Hands. Big Dawg Yoshimaru. Zyn Lads. People started asking for them at MagicCon. We are just giving the people what they want.

Printed in the US. Quality first. We are not here to sell you a thin shirt that disintegrates after six washes.

Stream questions get a slower reply. We are usually mid-game.
